10 Years Ago vs. Today
Subway. No doubt about it. I lived across the street from one for years and I would go like 3x a week for a ‘healthier option’ to fast food.
Today: We cook at home six to seven nights a week. If we head out, we enjoy local restaurants or the occasional black bean burger from Better Health. I’ve come a long way.
Twizzlers, Healthy One soup, Cheez-its, and white wine.
I was in a relationship that ended right before I moved to Ohio. Within a year, I met Phil and a year later we were engaged!
Today: Happily married to the best man I know. Ten years together and almost as long as husband and wife.
I made a move down to Ohio for a fantastic job opportunity, but knew no one within 50 miles. It was a time when I was completely focused on myself; finding what fulfilled me. During that time, I decorated my house with yellow walls and a pink kitchen, would workout for at least one hour every day and took roadtrips back to see my friends (and later on Phil) every weekend. I was free as a bird and came and went as I pleased.
Today: I am fully invested in my day job and love my hobby blogging. I don’t take spur-of-the-moment roadtrips every weekend, that is for sure. Haha. Phil and I have a beautiful home that is filled with love as we are raising our sweet boy, Mitch. Henry was with me in Ohio and is still the happy little pup he was 10 years ago. Oh, and while I do still have one yellow wall, it is our half bath and the rest of my house is decorated with a bit of style.
Working as a communications manager for GM. It was a huge job (I was 24 when I started) for someone my age.
Today: I’m in an amazing new job managing communications and PR for a major company. It is fast, fulfilling and most of all, gives me work-life balance. Something I have not always had, or cared about at some points.
A black Honda Civic.
Today: Black BMW.
Coffee Shop of Choice:
My coffee habit started in college when my freshman year suit-mates introduced me. At the time, I could only drink it with loads of French Vanilla Coffee Mate. My other favorite was going up to Biggby for a Teddy Bear Latte (caramel and vanilla). Sugar, yes, this is Brynn. Oye!
Today: My love for coffee has certainly expanded and been refined. I now love black coffee, but usually take a splash of milk. Our home line-up includes a Nespresso, Cuisinart and French Press. But, I also love visiting local coffee shops for pour overs.
Gap, Old Navy, J.Crew. My girlfriend Katie is the best bargain shopper, so we would head out together with our small paychecks and clean-up the sale area.
Today: LOFT, Banana, J. Crew, Nordstrom (my fave!) and local boutiques.
This may be the one place that things haven’t changed much. I have always loved a few low-lights in my hair and have been a tried and true Panteene girl. Over the years I have changed it up a bit, one time chopping my hair to donate and even playing with darker and lighter shades. But, overall, I keep it low maintenance.
