Gah, 22 week update! I wrote this post last week to catch up on my updates as I am now 23.5 weeks along.
I will say off the bat, this baby bump is definitely larger than the first time around. With Mitch the weight went in my belly, with this pregnancy it is going ev-er-ywhere. Actually, the pregnancy itself is very different.
How far along? 22 weeks
Baby’s Size? A coconut, about 10.5″ and 15 ounces.
Maternity clothes? Oh yes, bring on the stretchy maternity pants. I am also loving dresses this time around. Why did I not realize the beauty of the dress when pregnant. It moves, is soft, comfortable and is one piece vs. two. A serious bonus.
Stretch marks?: No, but I need to be more consistent with my oil and lotion.
Sleep: Like last round, sleep is good, but I wake up early no matter what. I’ve been doing my best to head to bed between 10-11pm. Momma needs her rest. But I have to say, I think we are approaching the point of the Snoogle. My body is starting to feel a bit off when I get up. While I feel like I’m wrestling with a six foot noodle at night, it really does help relieve the pressure on my hips and back.
Best moment this week: Little one moving!! There have been flutters, but this week we had full kicks. Nothing better.
Miss anything?: My energy.
Food cravings: Cravings have been in the moment not something ongoing. One day I really wanted ice cream, like the world might end if I don’t get ice cream’ type craving. I had some and then was over it. Another day I really wanted a piece of toast. What? I don’t know. It just sounded amazing. Oh, and way back, I was making mac and cheese and went crazy for it. I do not eat mac and cheese people. But, that day I went with it.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Thank goodness the morning sickness has passed because it was horrible.
Symptoms: A little bit of lower back pain, otherwise doing great now!
Happy or moody most of the time: Moody. Holy hormones.
Looking forward to: Being done with construction in our house so we can start focusing on Mitch’s new bedroom and prepping the nursery for baby. And (though it may be a long shot) some resemblance of energy…oy.
Purchases: A few little onsies because they are too cute to pass by. There are a few shops in my home town and neighboring towns that carry adorable baby clothes – I couldn’t help myself.
Workouts: I never went into a ton of detail here on the blog, but after Memorial weekend, I ended up in the ER due to severe pain that was concentrated on the right side of my abdomen. It woke me out of a dead sleep one night. I screamed in pain and then just sat there in bed with tears streaming down my face as Phil called the hospital. Within the hour I was in the ER and undergoing tests. Being pregnant, there is not much you can do in terms of testing, so there was a lot of blood work and an ultra sound. At first the doctors thought it was my appendix or pancreas. Fortunately, it wasn’t and my fear of undergoing surgery while pregnant was lifted.
They did say I pulled a muscle on my abdomen and was put on bedrest for a week and then little movement for another week since there was nothing to do but give my body time to heal.
I was so terrified from the pain that I really stopped moving much for almost a month. Phil ordered a belly support, which I hate but wear at times.
It was just two weeks ago I started working out again with walks, yoga and a few elliptical sessions. My workouts were very light and kept to three to four times a week.
Over vacation, I didn’t worry much as we stayed really active. I’d like to get moving a bit more, but need to listen to my body. This pregnancy is so much different!
Thoughts/Feelings/Random Musings: Give yourself a break when you need it. In a few months, I won’t have the luxury to kick my feet up on a whim!
