Baby Guster is just over 25 weeks and is about the size of a rutabaga. Not quite sure I’ve ever even eaten a rutabaga, but it seems fun.
Here’s what Baby Guster has been up to this week:
- Head to heels, Baby G now measures about 13 1/2 inches, weight is about a pound and a half, but it is beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat.
- As baby does, the wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and baby will start to look more and more like a newborn.
- Baby is also growing more hair — and if we could see it, we’d now be able to discern its color and texture. Eyes are starting to open as well, again, no color.
And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:
Maternity Clothes: Still rockin the pants and shorts, but regular shirts. I find maternity shirts are too baggy on me (unless they are very fitted) and make me look frumpy. My belly still isn’t that big to fill out the maternity shirts.
Workouts: This week was not so great, though it was to be expected coming off two crazy busy weeks and my best friend’s wedding last weekend. Come Monday, I was SPENT. I managed four workouts and was really busy the rest of the time, but those workouts were a challenge and no long walks with Henry. :/ Oh well. The wedding was worth it! And I am doing my best to let my body rest when it needs it. (My picture from the week is post workout on Thursday.)
Stretch marks? No, still rubbing in my favorite oil and lotion.
Symptoms: Fairly low-key this week. Just restless nights sleep.
Sleep: Not good at all. Baby seems to have day and night flipped, which means lots of movement at night that wakes me up. I have been getting two hour blocks of sleep followed by one awake and then two asleep and so on throughout the night. Ugh.
Movement: YES! All the time. Phil has been able to feel baby a couple of times and at the end of the week Baby G was pushing on my stomach and then Thursday night go the hiccups!! It was so strange yet so cute all at once!
Best moment this week: (Technically it was the last day of my 24th week.) The best moment was going to get a coffee last Sunday and as soon as I walked in the Batista said congratulations and asked when I was due. For so long I have felt frumpy since I don’t have much of a bump and feel like my body is changing in a, ‘did she gain weight?’ way. Now, the bump is out and in charge! I love it!
Food Cravings: Nope, and I know that is so frustrating to everyone trying to guess. I have honestly been eating the exact same as I used to. During the first trimester my eats were all over the place. But since then I have been back to my normal eats and cravings. Oh wait! I did get a crazy craving for fro-yo Wednesday night. But that was my only craving this entire pregnancy.
Miss Anything? Pre-pregnancy workouts. I understand my body is changing and working in a new way, but I do miss my energy and stamina. But honestly, I’ve been feeling so blessed about everything that these are really very mild things. I’m just loving so much about pregnancy.
Belly Button in or out? Still in. I’m tellin’ ya…it wants to come out.
Happy or moody most of the time: Definitely happy a majority of the time! Unless I am hitting the 4pm hour when it is time for my nap. Minutes before I fall asleep is not pretty.
New Baby Items: I picked up a cute onsie for Phil’s father-to-be present and my mom came over with a huge bag filled with gifts for Baby G. Gosh babies need a lot of stuff!
Looking Forward To: Continuing with the nursery, getting the rest of our furniture in this weekend. Phil and I have been working tirelessly to get it ready and we are actually ahead of schedule! And helping any way that I can for my baby shower that will be coming up in less than a month. Yay!

Question for the Moms:
At what point did you feel like your belly was really starting to pop/grow?
