Wow, in the final weeks of the second trimester! It is crazy to think I am rounding the final third of my pregnancy. November seems so close when I think of this little one, but so far when I think about my birthday (two weeks after my due date) and everything that is to come between. (Including prepping the nursery and Mitch’s third birthday!) So as much as I am looking forward to our little’s arrival, I have a full calendar and to-do list that needs serious attention until then!
I am working on the timing of my updates as I turn weeks on Wednesdays. My goal is to write the post during the week so I can share exact feelings, movement, updates, however, it is proving to be a bit of a challenge. Updates may become bi-weekly or move to the weekly posting calendar. We shall see.
One thing I have noticed is how different I am treating this pregnancy. With Mitch I was floating along, enjoying every external benefit and highlight. With this pregnancy, I am hyper focused on how I am feeling and my body and baby’s cues. Meaning, I have really lacked in the picture department. One thing I know I want to do is give this pregnancy as much love and attention as I did the first.
Baby Guster is 25 weeks and is about the size of a rutabaga.
Here’s what Baby Guster has been up to this week:
- Head to heels, Baby G now measures about 13 1/2 inches, weight is about a pound and a half, but it is beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat.
- Baby is also growing more hair — and if we could see it, we’d now be able to discern its color and texture. Eyes are starting to open as well, again, no color.
My belly, in my opinion, has officially popped. If I wear certain tops, or a coat, you can’t always tell that I’m pregnant, but for the most part it’s pretty impossible to hide at this point. I love that people (ok only two people so far, but whatever) ask me how far along I am without me telling them that I’m pregnant.
Still rockin the pants and shorts, regular shirts or very fitted maternity shirts. My belly isn’t quite large enough to fill out some tops, which leaves extra fabric around my hips due to my height. It makes for a frumpy look. My go-to have been dresses. I live for a dress right now. They are easy to put on and be out the door in minutes. The sizing seems to be more forgiving as well. A few weeks ago I picked up two wrap dresses for work and I would wear them everyday if I could. The style makes it easy for my tummy to fit and will be great as I continue to grow.
Workouts were better this week! My new mantra is do the best you can, listen and honor what you need now.
Tuesday: 20 min cardio and arm routine
Thursday: Dance cardio <—so much fun! First time trying and I’m hooked.
Saturday: 30 minutes cardio, 10 min leg toning
Sunday: Tabata <—new obsession
No, still rubbing in my favorite oil and lotion.
Everyone told me that once I hit my second trimester, I’d feel a wave of energy, and more like myself. While it has been a huge improvement, I still haven’t quite hit my stride. My sense of smell is still going strong!
Not bad, but I have definitely resorted to the Snoogle. At the end of my 23rd week my back started hurting and I tried the pillow and have been better ever since.
YES! All the time. Phil has been able to feel baby a couple of times and Mitch has placed his hand on my belly, which pretty much made my heart explode.
BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK
See above. Is it possible to have your heart outside of your body? Ugh!
CRAVINGS AND AVERSIONS
For the most part, I’ve been really lucky in that I’ve been craving lots of raw fruits and vegetables. I have a serious need for baby Greek yogurt with fruit every day. That’s one thing I can’t seem to get enough of! I also go through a huge box of organic blueberries every day or two. It’s so bizarre! Also loving Greek salads and watermelon. As for unhealthy cravings, sweets have been dominate with this pregnancy. I also have loved bread way more than usual. In fact, I am not a bread person and never have been, so it is crazy how I reach for it now.
My clothes. Ugh. Pregnancy options just fall short, something that is much more obvious this round when I am going into an office and not able to live in yoga pants and a tee all day.
HAPPY OR MOODY?
Both. Ha! My emotions swing a lot more with this pregnancy.

Question for the Moms:
At what point did you feel like your belly was really starting to pop/grow?
