I feel like just yesterday I was entering my third trimester and now here we are, only a couple of days away from my due date. Time is somehow simultaneously flying by and crawling (depending on the day!) but one thing is for sure: We cannot wait to meet our little one soon (I hope!).
Here is a peek into last week’s 38 week pregnancy recap. I have to say, while I have a feeling this will be a November baby, I was pretty disappointed at my last doctor appointment when I was told there were no strong signs of labor. None? None. None! Come on, throw me a little something, doc. Sigh.
Baby Guster is 38 weeks and six days and the size of a pumpkin (how appropriate!).
Workouts this week included the elliptical, some strength and stretching. I found myself low on energy and just did what felt good. Sure, I wish I was able to workout more, but I know I am more active in this pregnancy thanks to a toddler and full time job in PR. My Fitbit hits 10,000 steps before the afternoon.
In general, I also feel like I’m moving a bit slower. By the end of the day, I want nothing more than to sit on the couch and chill out with the boys. Sleep has been touch and go again this week, however, it seems when I have one bad night’s sleep, the next night I clock eight to nine hours. Finding a comfortable position is the hardest part with sleep. I don’t remember my hips feeling so much pressure in my first pregnancy, however, between carrying different and possibly the fact this is my second, I feel this pregnancy in my hips and back. But, overall I feel good and am so grateful for a healthy pregnancy.
Food Cravings and Aversions
Ehhhhhh food and I are still not super good friends… most things just don’t sound good so I just have to choose something and try to eat it. I’m focusing on fruits and veggies because they make me feel so much better than a bowl of cereal. Greek food and I have also been having a moment lately – ok, for almost the entire pregnancy.
I’m still having the hardest time with dinner – some nights I can eat normally, other nights I make it through half of my dinner or serve myself a small portion. In the last days of this week I have not been interested in breakfast either. Between 10 am and 5 pm I feel my best and consume the majority of my food for the day.
Looking Forward To…
The moment our baby is placed on my chest.
Belly Button In Or Out?
Like I said, I have this strong feeling baby will arrive in November, but all of the stories I’ve heard over the last few weeks of moms going into labor two or three weeks early with their second had me a bit excited. I am ready to get this show on the road and see who this little one is that’s been growing for the last nine months. With Mitch, I was in such a state of bliss through my pregnancy, the thought of it ending was not on my radar. I could have stayed pregnant for ten years and not thought a thing of it. With this one, I have enjoyed being pregnant, but this second pregnancy has brought some other challenges. Part of me knows this may be my last time pregnant so I’m rubbing my belly a bit more, laughing when baby moves across my belly and taking in the bump in all of its glory.
Yes! Loving all the belly rolls! Sometimes I feel like our little one is totally splayed out and pushing out as hard as he can on opposite sides of my stomach. Phil and I watch my belly roll, contort and then all of a sudden you see an arm! It’s intense!
Thank you for reading and sharing in this special time with us. <3 My next update will be at 39 weeks… unless the baby comes before then (since I post on the day I flip to the next week, so that will be 40 weeks)!
