Happy Memorial Day and start to summer!
The warm weather is here and I could not be more thrilled – bring on the days at the beach, bbqs, bike rides and bonfires.
When the weather changes, so does my approach to my hair. I care for my hair a bit different depending on the season and what my hair needs. By nature, my hair is wavy with a bit of a curl, so it can really get a mind of its own when humidity is involved. Finding a few great products and hairstyles has been a lifesaver. Here are five of my summer go-to hairstyles to beat the heat:
A mix of braids and bun you can’t go wrong. The end look is unique but the style is really simple to do on your own. Check the link for a great tutorial.
Braids are such an easy on-the-go option for summer. I like to wear a braid when I go to the beach to manage the breeze and if you create the braid with wet hair, you can take it out to find soft waves.
When the summer is in full swing, I tend to pull my hair up and out of my face frequently. A top bun has been a go-to for me because it is beyond easy and looks great tidy or really messy. Add a few strands by your face for a romantic look or slick down with spray for a sleek work look. I am obsessed with these hair ties because they don’t pull on your hair and keep their shape.
One of the best things I ever did was embrace my natural hair texture and style. Luckily, ‘undone’ is in, so matter your hairstyle, rock it with confidence. I like to add sea salt spray to my hair to bring out the waves and add texture.
The ponytail dates back to our childhood, but you can take a few steps to make it work for everyday, even work. Add volume at the crown of your head with a little tease to add lift to the back. Soft curls add texture to your ponytail (or embrace your natural waves the day before and wear this as your day two look). Braids are another fun addition. Simply section off your hair and leave two smaller sections from your temples to the top of your year. Secure the back and then braid the two side sections and tuck into the back pony. Simple!
