Good morning! I am high off of a wonderful weekend filled with celebrations and our first time relaxing as a family as Phil is officially done with his masters! It was the weekend I’ve needed for some time; everyone together!
The weekend started slow with an easy Friday night. But we were off and running Saturday. I spent the late morning at hot yoga with my best friend. It has been weeks since I attended a class since most weekends Mitch and I hung out while Phil studied. I was quite nervous having such a long time off from yoga, but it felt great to move and stretch. And sweat!
After class, I caught up with my girlfriend for a bit, something I really miss! Katie and I used to workout together multiple times a week. But our schedules have not been in sync for quite some time. Our yoga and chat session was much needed and really helped me relax and kick off the weekend.
I spent the afternoon with the boys before running a few errands to prep for the night. Saturday night we celebrated Phil graduating. While his formal graduation ceremony is in June, I think completing your final class deserves a little party as well!
I surprised the grad with some decorations and goodies. And Phil surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of pink and white roses to thank me for my support through school. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture, and the roses are stunning – they remind me of my wedding bouquet!
Sunday morning we all loaded up and spent a few hours grabbing coffees and grocery shopping.
Mitch was quite the helper and carried a bag of coffee the around the store and dropping various citrus into our cart. It was such a silly little moment but made my heart smile – he was so happy and proud of himself and we were all together to enjoy it. Being together as a family is something I really missed over the last few months!
We came home and started prepping for my family to arrive for an early Easter. My sister and her family along with my parents came over to celebrate. My parents were in town, so it worked out for everyone to spend the day together.
Lunch was simple with chicken, strawberry and walnut salad, deviled eggs, veggies and hummus and my sister brought a delicious quinoa salad. She seriously is the queen of mixing ingredients into quinoa and having the dish turn out amazing. It’s quite the talent!
I also tried my hand at a new recipe that turned out to be quite the hit. I will share the recipe later this week!
After lunch, the Easter bunny brought baskets for the kids. They dug into new paint supplies and treats.
The best part of the weekend was watching the love these cousins share for one another. Mitch absolutely adores his cousin Natalie. They were running around playing so well together and at one point started belly laughing – totally cracking themselves up.
I love to see Mitch know and adore his cousins. I grew up with my cousins and it was always so much fun to spend time together. We were all around the same age, so it really was like hanging out with your friends! Having my sister so close makes for a lot of cousin time and, of course, time with my sister. Win – win!
It was a relaxing visit that was so wonderful. A lot of talking, laughing and enjoying the kids play. And of course, my mom made her famous cookies that we all dug into. There is nothing better!
The evening came to an end and we all went to bed with full bellies, and light and full hearts.
I’m so thrilled to celebrate Phil’s accomplishment and move into spring with his masters under his belt.
