Hi guys! Welcome back, I hope you all had a great weekend. My weekend started with a bumpy Friday that rolled into a great Friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning and then took a bit of a turn again at night.
Let's jump into the good stuff – a date night to celebrate my eight wedding anniversary with Phil. Since Phil was traveling on our actual anniversary, we made plans to go out on Friday. Once the sitter arrived, we went over to Birmingham for a night out.
Phil asked me several times what I wanted to do and I would answer, "have a delicious meal outside and just relax." And that's exactly what we did.
The night was a bit cool, which was a wonderful relief from the high temperature during the day. And when we arrived, there was the perfect little table outside just for us.
Within minutes I sunk into my chair and enjoyed the cool air, easy conversation and rounds of amazing courses.
Their minestrone was out of this world and my salmon dinner was a fresh take on bruschetta with noodles.
I love having a night out with Phil when we can talk, laugh and enjoy one another's company.
After dinner, we drove to Ray's to try some of their famous ice cream. We both dug into blueberry pie swirl that was one of the best flavors we've ever had. The night was relaxing and refreshing – delicious, too!
Though it may not happen soon with the little one on the way, but I hope to make date nights a weekly occurrence. I love family time but there's nothing like a quiet few hours to talk with your best friend.
Saturday started at 9am.
Did you read that? 9am!!! My early bird slept in and the rest of us easily followed suit. When I turned over at 8:30 and checked the clock, I could barely believe my eyes. I headed downstairs to find the sweetest note:
That's true love.
Once Phil was home and Mitch was up, we dug into eggs and got ready for my girlfriend's son's second birthday party.
We arrived to see all of my girlfriends with their families running around the yard and the party in full swing! The next hour was spent catching up with everyone as we dug into a lunch on the grill.
And of course, cake for the birthday boy. The cake was darling and delicious. Rachel said it was from Costco and I made a mental note!
The party was about one hour away and within minutes Mitch was asleep and continued to nap the whole drive home and another hour. Phil got to work on the second coat of paint in our family room while I picked up around the house and did meal prep. The night quickly passed with a light dinner and more painting.
Sunday morning I was ready for a workout and decided to return to my beloved yoga sculpt class. When I arrived at the studio a note was posted the class was moved outside by the pool. I was so excited to time my return to the day class was outside. There's something really refreshing to practicing yoga with the sun and fresh air.
( I have also attended "yoga under the stars" which is equally as amazing!)
It's been two months since I last attended and I could feel the burn. The class is structured around yoga but incorporates cardio and light weights in traditional poses.
I felt amazing and was able to modify when needed for the bump. After class the teacher came up to me to say she was watching me because she's expecting as well!
We were treated to Sunrise smoothies to cap off the practice.
The guys whipped up brunch and we dug in when I returned and we enjoyed another slow afternoon together. Mitch took a nap and I spent the afternoon relaxing and making lists for our upcoming vacation next weekend.
I ended up having a bit of a wild night, which I'll share more about in my upcoming pregnancy post.
Monday Phil's mom came down for a visit, which was perfect timing to celebrate her birthday. Mitch and I made a batch of brownies on Sunday so we could properly wish her happy birthday. We sang and dug in!
And now time for the winner of the Rally House $25 gift card. Congrats Bethany!
"Baseball games are so much fun in person! Maybe it is because I love all the food! My favorite sport though is basketball for sure! I have always been a Laker fun because it was my dad’s favorite"
Hope you all had a great weekend!
