I’m bursting with joy to tell you that our baby boy, Mitchell, arrived Tuesday, September 30th at 5:58 am, weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces, and 20 and a half inches in length. He decided to arrive on his due date – making him one of the 5% of babies that do. He completely surprised his momma!
First family photo with two hour old Mitchell and two parents who have not slept
in over 36 hours but are over the moon.
On Monday afternoon I was telling Phil that I was having a hard time not know when this would happen. I decided to get out of the house to busy myself. We ran some errands and while we were at Home Depot I felt something change. (I was going into labor but didn’t know that’s what it was at the time.)
We called the dr about the pressure I was experiencing and he told us to come in immediately. 10 hrs later I was holding my baby boy. It was an incredibly quick and easy labor and delivery, for which I am so grateful. And it is true, life is never the same once you lay eyes on your little one.
We were able to spend 48 hrs in the hospital and enjoyed (and used) all of the extra care and support. Mitchell never left our room so we had a great team of doctors, nurses, lactation consultants and more visiting round the clock. We also had all of our family and best friends come to meet Mitchell. Such special moments to see your loves ones meet your son.
Life is totally different, full of intense love and a lot of unknowns that are somehow fun even to this Type A. I feel as though we are starting a new life, a new journey that is the most wildly adventurous and exciting thing I’ve done in my life.
One thing is for sure, Mitchell has a great dad and looks so much like him. I can’t get over the resemblance. We have completely fallen in love with this boy in ways we never thought possible.
Oh, and Henry, he is still trying to figure this whole thing out. Ha!
Thank you for all your love and support!!
Today certainly is marvelous!
