I am back from another weekend up north that was again so much fun and beautiful. This weekend was filled with celebration; my sister-in-law’s baby shower and an early birthday celebration for my sister.
We actually made a long weekend out of the trip and arrived Thursday night.
On Friday Lindsay and I enjoyed a quiet morning while my parents were at work. It was so fun to sit around and chat over coffee, just like we used to when she lived with me a few months ago! I also got to spend my mornings with this little one..
In the afternoon we went to our favorite sandwich shop, Chef’s, for lunch and then hit up the beach. My niece Natalie was having a blast playing with the waves and even started swimming a bit.
We spent the rest of the afternoon resting before having a big family bbq with my brother Shane, Nichole and the rest of the gang. And no summer is complete without a trip to Bardons, our local ice cream shop.
Saturday morning started bright and early with a trip to Morsels for coffee and then we made the trip to Glen Arbor. On the agenda, a trip to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes.
We met up with my sister’s friends and everyone made the big climb to the top. It was such a beautiful day and the views were stunning as always.
The morning was spent playing in the sand and running around before grabbing lunch and driving back to Traverse to get ready.
My sister-in-law Nichole’s baby shower was Saturday night. We returned to the location of her wedding shower for another great celebration!
We enjoyed a dinner of finger sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit and veggies, and chips with fresh salsa. And the dessert, oh my! A death by chocolate trifle with bits of candy bar and also a Strawberry Shortcake trifle that was so delicious!
Nichole received a ton of wonderful gifts for their baby boy. I cannot believe how soon we get to meet him!
The shower was lovely and Nichole was beautiful, completely glowing and filled with love. It was so special to be able to celebrate with her.
Natalie was a great helper!
All of the cousins; Natalie, Bennett and Baby G. Just a few more weeks until everyone is here!
Nichole, Lindsay and Claire
On Sunday we had brunch at The Towne Plaza as an early birthday celebration for my sister Lindsay. Her birthday is actually today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDS!!!!) but since we aren’t all together, we thought a celebration a day early was in order.
It was my first time to TP and I have to say, it lived up to its reputation.
We spent the rest of the late morning shopping in downtown and then made another trip to the beach before packing up and heading home in the late afternoon. I had such a great weekend soaking in the beautiful weather, my family and celebrating my two ‘sisters’. But it sure was nice to come home to my boys.
I can hardly believe that we are just weeks away from these babies coming. Where did the time go?!
What was the best part of your weekend?
Are you traveling anywhere this summer?
