I find birthdays can be somewhat polarizing: some people love the pomp and circumstance while others prefer to have the day almost pass by without notice. I fall in the former camp. To me, birthdays are a time to celebrate loved ones by showing them and telling them.
My birthday was yesterday, but the fun kicked off on Saturday. The day kicked off with a late wake up call (a small blessing) followed by a very lazy morning. By noon we were all hungry and ready to get out of the house. We hit up our favorite local spot for lunch.
Unfortunately, the weather had dropped over thirty degrees over night, so we didn’t stay out too long. When we returned home, Mitch took a nap and we got ready for our date night.
We kissed Mitch goodbye and headed out to my birthday dinner at Joe Muer. Located in downtown Detroit, the restaurant is stunning complete with white linens, waiters in tails and a stunning view of the water. We were lucky enough to be seated by the window and spent an amazing few hours enjoying sushi, crab, martinis and great company.
The rest of the day was spent snuggling with Mitch and heading to bed early. One late night is apparently all we could handle.
My birthday was yesterday and started with a special coffee delivery and breakfast made by the boys. We all enjoyed pancake breakfast and played cars. I loved all being together, one of my requests for the day.
After the boys left, I headed to Orangetheory for an amazing workout. I knew I wanted to move and feel good and it certainly worked!
Phil and Mitch arrived home moments after me and we all played and then dug into an amazing dinner. Phil cooked up steaks and sides that were fantastic!
My sweet boy helped me blow out the candles and I declaimed my birthday officially redeemed. And thank you to all of my friends near and far for the birthday wishes! What a way to ring in a new year!
