Heat wave! Happy Monday friends, anyone else back in their summer gear? We are experiencing a second go at summer with temperatures pushing 90 degrees.
While I love the sun, being pregnant throws a different element in the mix. Fortunately, we had plans to be up north for the weekend, which gave us a chance to spend time at the water, eat ice cream and enjoy our family.
We arrived late Friday night at my brother’s house where we stayed for the weekend. Once Mitch and Bennett laid eyes on another, it was all systems go. They played for over and didn’t head to bed until after 11 pm. The rest of the night was rocky, so Saturday started on a slow, tired note.
I had an early morning appointment for a prenatal massage, which was a amazing as I remembered. While I was there I snuck in a workout and was pampered. The hostess was so sweet and gifted me a to-go bag of my favorite granola they make in house after she heard me rave over the snack.
When I arrived back at the house, everyone was playing and getting ready for the day. We quickly packed up and headed into town to watch a tennis tournament. My brother is the tennis coach at the high school and was hosting a tournament with schools through the state.
My sister and her family were also in town and we all were excited to see one another at the tournament and support my brother. The kids spent the better part of an hour watching tennis, playing and entertaining the other attendees. And of course, giving love to Uncle Shane. My brother is amazing with kids and they are drawn to his fun loving spirit. He is certainly loved by his niece and nephews.
The sun started to wear everyone down, so we split to eat lunch and nap.
Within a few hours Mitch was awake and ready for more fun! The first stop was ice cream at my favorite hometown spot. We all opted for vanilla cones with sprinkles and raced against the temperature to eat them before the ice cream melted.
With bellies full, it was beach time. The water was still cool, but was the perfect refresher against the summer sun. Everyone jumped in and stayed cool splashing, swimming and wadding until dinner time.
Sunday morning was extra special as it was my nephew Bennett’s birthday and birthday party. Mitchell was born six days after Bennet, so we weren’t able to travel up to visit when he was first born. I loved being able to celebrate with Bennett and my brother and sister-in-law, even if it was three years later.
We dug into eggs and special birthday donuts before it was time to prep for the party!
Bennett’s birthday was themed after Bob the Builder from the decor to the cake to the kids’ activities- we were under construction!
The party kicked off and within minutes everyone was catching up with friends and family while enjoying lunch.
The kids were gifted hard hats and work belts before getting to work on a few crafts.
Next was cake and gifts!
The party continued on with some time in the pool to cool off before we had to say our goodbyes and head home.
Another wonderful birthday-filled September weekend in the books! And now we’re days away from Mitch’s third birthday. Where does the time go?
I hope you all had a great one!
What was the weather like this weekend where you live?
