Easter weekend certainly did not disappoint; with eggs galore, sugar-highs and temperatures in the sixties, we enjoyed a perfect weekend. Add a night out to celebrate our cousin’s birthday, and it was one packed weekend!
On Saturday, we were in egg mode. The morning started with dying eggs. Mitch was confused at first and let me take the lead as we “placed” (aka tossed) an egg into each color.
But soon enough, Mitch’s curiosity got the better of him and he was off and running.
And then we started to get creative, adding multiple eggs into one container, making new colors and letting creativity and imagination run wild.
Not long after, we participated in the community Easter event held at the local metro park. The event was centered around an Easter egg hunt, but also included the Easter bunny, a fire truck, crafts, face painting and other events.
The afternoon was quite quiet and ended with leftovers and an early bedtime for everyone.
On Easter, we woke up to Easter goodies for Mitch, which he bee-lined for. His excitement for gifts has increased ten-fold since Christmas.
Within minutes, everything was open and his mouth was filled with cheddar bunnies.
It was a quick morning and then we were on the road to enjoy dinner with Phil’s mom. We arrived just before noon to another egg hunt! Mitch jumped out of the car and got right to work.
After a solid hour of finding eggs and hiding them again, we made it inside and dug into our baskets.
Kathy made a wonderful dinner that we enjoyed and filled up on so much that we packed strawberry shortcake to eat at home. After more play time we packed up and made the hour and a half drive home.
And once again, my little guy played outside for almost two hours. I swear Mitch loves the outdoors more than indoors any day.
While this wasn’t our first Easter celebration with Mitch, this year was so special and memorable. It was a wonderful weekend with my boys.
How was your weekend?
Do you still get an Easter basket?
Do you color eggs?
