I feel so spoiled coming off an extra long holiday weekend. Yesterday was Phil’s birthday, so we both took the day off of work to enjoy a little extra relaxing and time together as a family. To say we had a great weekend would be an understatement. From egg hunts, to favorite restaurants to celebrations galore, the last three days were packed to the brim with fun, family and food!
On Friday we had an easy morning getting around and on the road. We made the typical four hour trip in five hours thanks to one stop for a feed. Otherwise, it was an easy trip. Not long after we arrived my sister and her family came into town and my brother, sister in law and nephew came over to my parents. We spent the night enjoying dinner made by my brother and catching up.
Saturday morning we had reservations at The Remedy, my new favorite local restaurant. I went with the same order as my last visit, which was as delicious as a I remembered. But the winners were the order of ricotta and warm blueberries and the french pressed coffee.
The ladies spent the afternoon shopping at the local stores and then hit up the grocery store for Easter brunch and dinner fixings.
When we returned home it was time to decorate eggs! I made the mistake of purchasing my standard organic brown eggs…oops!Thank goodness my mom had some extra white eggs on hand that we quickly hard boiled. But the two colors made the dye color transfer in different ways and turned into a little experiment. We actually decided that the brown eggs made some of the colors we liked best!

At six we all tuned into the Michigan State basketball game and ordered food from our favorite local pizza place and another restaurant. It was a relaxed night with some of the best food around! Unfortunately, Michigan State didn’t win, but it was a fun to watch them make it to the Final Four in March Madness.
Easter morning started with scrambled eggs and coffee while everyone got ready for the day. Since the little ones were a bit off on their nap schedule, Natalie took the lead on finding the eggs and outsmarted all of the “Easter Bunnies” that tried to find some tricky spots. We had nothing on her!

After all of the eggs were found we opened baskets that were filled with books, toys and a new beach towel for the summer from Grandma and Grandpa.

Can you believe all of the photos where everyone is awake, looking and smiling?! It was certainly a miracle.
After we enjoyed a delicious meal of ham, pork chops, roasted potatoes, asparagus and dinner rolls. We had to pack up soon after dinner to make the road trip home. It was a late night, but we made the four hour trip straight with no stops and had a nice easy ride home.
Monday was Phil’s birthday!
We spent the day sleeping in (thanks to the later than normal bedtime for everyone), went out to lunch and watched the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day.
It was a wonderful long weekend filled with lots of love, celebrations and memories.
Don’t forget to enter to win one dozen KIND bars!!
What was the best part of your weekend?
