Good morning to you!
How was your weekend?
I am feeling anxious and a bit zapped, but the feelings can be attributed to the final weekend of Phil’s MBA program. Today is his final day in his class, and the program. So, you can imagine that the weekend was pretty low on time as a family as Phil was not only studying but also came down with the dreaded flu bug that bit both Mitch and myself.
Before the bug set it, we did enjoy some laughs Saturday morning as Mitch decided to make the laundry basket his go car. Mitch always offers to help with the laundry – but this weekend he decided to climb in. We spent over 45 minutes pushing him around the house as he laughed and made “vroom” sounds over and over.
It was certainly a great workout for us! Phil and I swapped back and forth since Mitch couldn’t get enough!
Saturday was absolutely gorgeous, so Mitch and I headed outside to explore. We started with bubbles, kicked a soccer ball, picked up sticks and played with chalk. The temperatures were reaching 60 degrees and was the perfect weather to be outside running around.
We also went on a hunt for signs of spring. Hello tulip buds! One of my favorite times of the year is watching my tulips bud in the early days of spring.
Saturday night was a party; I gave Mitch a bath and ate leftovers while Phil was resting in bed. Ha! But it was great for us all to get a good nights rest with daylight saving time. And believe it or not, Mitch slept in!
I woke up Sunday morning at 7 am to a quiet house. After several time checks, I realized that I was being blessed with two tired boys (ok, three with Henry) and slipped out of the house for coffee and the paper. But my morning moved along quickly with a date with my niece in the afternoon!
My niece is showing interest in ice skating, so we have gone skating together and on Sunday went to Disney on Ice. When I received the notification for the show, I quickly asked my sister (her mom) and snagged tickets – yes, this was a bit of a dream of mine, too!
We arrived in time to settle in before the show and fun began. Disney on ice is centered around Mickey and Minney and all of the classic and famous Disney movies. It was a wonderful few hours spent with my beautiful niece. I loved being able to share my love for skating with her and be able to spend the day together.
After the show, I dropped Natalie off and stole a few minutes with my new nephew. He is growing so fast and is a serious heartbreaker!
When I returned home, Phil was quite under the weather, so Mitch and I did our best to entertain ourselves. We decided that finger painting was the perfect rainy Sunday afternoon activity.
Two minutes after this picture was taken Mitch decided to smell his masterpiece. (Smelling has become his favorite thing as of late. He leans in and sniffs flowers, food, drinks, anything he can.) Well, smelling paint led to paint on the nose, then the hair, then the lips and next thing you know we were in the tub.
Sunday night came to a quick end thanks to daylight saving and the flu, but it was a wonderful one all the same!
When it comes to an accomplishment, do you countdown the days or go with the flow?
