Christmas is in exactly two weeks and this year I’m feeling more excited than ever to spend the holiday with my sweet girl and boy -our little family.
Life has been good, so good lately. I’ve found myself in a state of calm being immersed in snuggles and trains. My days are spent with Amelia and nights as a family. We have been a family of four for four weeks and I feel like we are finding a bit of a groove.
Last week my mom came down to visit Amelia and Mitchell. We spent the days talking and I even snuck in a nap and had a solid hour of alone time to shower and put myself together and take a solo drive (a blessing to any new Mom).
Mitchell had his first holiday concert and it was about the cutest thing. You know when you want to snap a moment in your mind and tuck it away forever- this was one of those moments. He walked out on stage without fear, sang his heart out and waved to me several times to confirm I saw his big debut.
As I said, most of my days have been spent with Amelia with little productivity otherwise. Thus, a ton of sleepy pictures on Instagram and little of me out and about.
We did however, decorate our tree. Sure, it took two gos, but it’s gorgeous. And we managed to snap a picture with both kids and bonus for Amelia being awake!
Sunday was spent in our pjs eating French toast. I took advantage of an open afternoon and launched into a mini cooking spree. Meal prep is key with a newborn! I also decided Thanksgiving dinner round two was a must. Instead of tackling a full bird, I picked up turkey tenderloins and whipped up cranberry sauce, stuffing (Phil loves stovetop) and took a little help from Trader Joe’s with whipped cauliflower and gravy.
The result was another scrumptious meal that was perfect for a chilly, snowy Sunday.
And for those asking, I use Ina Garten’s cranberry recipe. It’s delicious and ready in 20 minutes!
The other thing that’s been happening – online shopping and visitors. Multiple times a day I’m at the front door talking to the UPS man or welcoming in a friend, family member or neighbor to meet Amelia. And they come bearing gifts and treats, too. Our home is filled with goodies from so many sweet and thoughtful people. It’s been so fun sharing our new addition with loved ones.
Like I said, life has been good. Really good.
