On Friday Mitchell and I had a very special errand to run.
We headed to Macy’s to drop off his letter to Santa on National Believe Day (December 12).
I am sure you have all seen the big red mailboxes in Macy’s – they are part of Macy’s Believe Campaign which invites believers of all ages to drop off letters to Santa at any Macy’s store by depositing them in special, designated Santa Mail letterboxes. You can also submit your letter online at Macys.com/believe.
The great part about dropping your letter into the mailbox is Macy’s will donate $1 for each letter recieved to Make-A-Wish to grant the wishes of children with life threatening conditions. Pretty amazing, right?!
National Believe Day (December 12) is a pinnacle moment aimed to inspire generosity and giving throughout the season and encouraging Americans to embrace the spirit of goodwill and charity. Macy’s stores around the country work with Make-A-Wish to grant “Wishes Across America.”
Last year, Make-A-Wish granted the wishes of more than 14,000 children across the United States.
A wish is granted every 38 minutes!
Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area “Wish Kid” – Joysse
Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants more than 300 wishes annually to children who have battled a life-threatening illnesses. this year’s Wish Kid is Joysse, a brave 4-year-old girl from San Mateo who was diagnosed with leukemia. She is now in remission but not before several rounds of treatment and missing some normal toddler days.
For her one true wish, Joysse asked for a princess party complete with purple and pink decorations, a princess dress with a cape and crown, cake and ice cream and more! She is so excited that she asks her mom, Gabriela, about her it every day. Her party is scheduled for January, but as a surprise, Macy’s will be helping her prepare for her wish with a very special celebration at the San Francisco Union Square location.
What an amazing party Joysse will have. I love Make-A-Wish and think that everyone should find a way to send a little love to others during this time of year. Here is how you can participate:
Between November 7 – December 24, visit your local Macy’s store or Macy’s Believe online to submit your child’s letter to Santa and help make dreams come true for Make-A-Wish kids around the country. For every letter received through December 24, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish (up to $1,000,000).
Lets all make holiday history – let’s break the Guinness World Record for longest wish list to Santa by submitting your letter to Macys.com/believe.
Wishing you all happy holidays!
