Mitch’s birthday was actually on Friday and I loved spending the day with the birthday boy and Phil. We both took the day off to soak up every minute of Mitch and enjoy time as a family.
The morning started with balloons and gifts! Mitch usually wakes up ready to eat, but not on his birthday. The balloons were a huge hit and he actually got into tearing the paper off of the presents this year.
And the gift we’ve been waiting to give him was finally ready – his swing set and swing! Despite it being 8am and everyone still in their pjs, it was a mad dash outside to the new set. Mitch immediately jumped in the swing and kept laughing and shouting, “This is fun!” I am pretty sure my heart burst.
The only way to lure him inside was a nice stack of warm, homemade pancakes! Mitch adores Peppa Pig and one episode is all about pancakes and she continuously says they’re delicious. So, we enjoyed our breakfast with Mitch giving updates on how delicious his birthday pancakes tasted. When it came time to sing him happy birthday, Mitch was more than prepared after the other celebrations we had this month for his cousins. And he blew out his candles like a pro!
After our bellies were full, we headed out to a trampoline park for some jumping fun! Mitch has always been a jumper – since he was a little baby – so we knew he’d love to jump the day away. And boy were we right. When he saw the jump pad, he wiggled out of my arms, hit the ground and ran full speed out to jump.
As you can imagine, leaving was the worst part. But, we will certainly be back!
By the time we made it home, Mitch was ready for a nap, so I got to work on the birthday cakes. (He took party Rice Krispie treats to his class on Thursday to share with his friends, too!)
Mitch’s nap was just long enough for us to grab lunch and relax before he was back up and ready to party. We spent the afternoon digging through his new toys before we got ready for an early dinner.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner out celebrating our birthday boy. When we returned, it was time for cake!
There is no doubt about it, Mitch inherited his parents’ sweet tooth.
BIRTHDAY PARTY AT THE ORCHARD
Saturday was Mitch’s birthday party at an orchard. We decided to find a place where the kids could run around, go on a hayride, pet animals and enjoy cider and donuts. The weather was terrible in Michigan all week, with parts of the state flooding on Thursday, so we cancelled the day. But the sun broke out just in time to call the orchard party back on and we ended up having a fantastic time!
We met our family and a few friends at Blake’s Orchard in the afternoon for a few hours of fun and treats!
Next up was a hayride and train ride.
Mitch is crazy for trains, so we were excited to take him on the ride. But he was more overwhelmed than anything by seeing one up close!
We spent the next few hours opening gifts and exploring more of the orchard.
Mitch’s birthday weekend was absolutely wonderful and I loved sharing his special day with some of the most important people in our lives!
