Orangetheory Fitness workouts are all of the rage these days, but if you aren’t a member, you may be wondering what a class is really like. Or, if you are like me, can’t always make the class times but still want that total body cardio and weight approach that gives you a great workout and afterburn!
Over the weekend I attended a 3G class that I absolutely loved – my favorite to date – thanks to seven-minute blocks that kept us moving all 60 minutes. The class flew by in no time and I left energized and sweaty, what more could you ask for?!
For those not familiar, the 3G workout moves the largest group of participants through the three stations (treadmills, rowers and weight floor) at the same time. For example, if you start on the treadmill, you’ll move to the rower next and then the weight floor. If you start on the rower, you’ll move to the weight floor and then treadmill and so on.
As you can see, the action-packed class leaves little time for thinking and a lot of focus on the exercise.
If you have access to a few cardio machines, you can replicate the workout. Or, take it outside with other forms of cardio for the same great workout.
We started the workout with a warm-up for five minutes and then moved into the first circuit. You can start anywhere in the workout (just like at OTF). I started on the treadmill and quickly got my heart rate going for the rest of the workout!
This quick-pace circuit-based workout is sure to give a great full-body workout. Though it is hard to replicate the Orangetheory experience, this should give you a great idea and is also perfect for travel. Just remember to turn up the music and give it your all!
