The winter and newborn thaw are upon us. For a month I’ve been staying in doors focusing on family, caring for Amelia and celebrating all of the holidays. It was glorious. Do you ever dream about someone telling you to stay home and avoid the bitter winter weather. While having a baby in the colder months is difficult, it does lend well to hibernation.
With my maternity leave coming to an end soon, Amelia rounding three months and the temperatures back to reasonable season temps – we are breaking free.
This weekend we made our way outside when we saw 50 degrees on Saturday. It took almost all afternoon to coordinate four people and a dog to be outside at once, but where there is a will there’s a way.
The fresh air did us all a world of good and we wrapped the day with pizza and bathtub parties.
Sunday was a day of rest – literally for us girls. Amelia has grown out of her sleepy newborn stage and spends the days awake and active. So when she snuggled into my chest on Sunday I couldn’t say no. We rested (loving the kindle app!) while Mitch was at a playdate with his cousins and Phil putzed around the house.
That afternoon when both kiddos were down, I headed to the gym for a workout. I’m all about the morning workouts, but with feeding, it can be a struggle to get out of the door. Thankfully, the Peloton app inspired me to change up my workout and head to the bike.
The night wrapped with a huge pot of chili – I made a double batch to freeze.
Before I go, I wanted to quickly talk about my posting here on the blog. I have missed connecting, but for the last few weeks and the next few I’ll be in and out when I can. My time at home with Amelia is coming to an end and it is overwhelming and emotional. I’m doing my best to soak in my time with her and also away from work – including posting. However, I love this space and want to touch base until I am back into some form of a routine. Right now I’m lucky if I shower before 3 pm. And that is ok. It is where I need to be and want to be.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
