Hello mommas! I have to say, I am really excited to write today’s post. For me, it is all about the little things in life, and I find that even more so during pregnancy – the little things can turn your mood or day around. Or, hey, just provide a little relief. I mean, you are doing a lot of work!
My pregnancies were night and day different; Mitch was a walk in the park and the second has given me a run for my money. However, the other night while winding down from the day reading one of my pregnancy books, I turned and looked at Phil and said, “This is exactly how I felt with Mitch at this point.” Because while our pregnancies are all different, in the end, we are all working hard, growing a baby(ies) and experiencing a world of changes with ‘our’ bodies. Feeling unlike myself is what I struggle with the most through pregnancy. When my belly reached the point of interfering with putting on my shoes, I laughed and thought, there goes another thing.
We are gaining a lot as women, but loose a lot as individuals though pregnancy. That’s why I love pampering myself with small treats, indulgences or moments just for me. I usually do once a week and those moments can give me life. My favorite ways to pamper myself are through things that are good for me, make me feel good or straight up offer relief. Here are a few ways mommas -to-be can pamper themselves through pregnancy.
SEVEN WAYS TO PAMPER YOURSELF WHILE PREGNANT
1. Get a comfy pillow/blanket
Comfort is the goal for nine months, so find something you love. Don’t try and make due – seriously. Buy the pregnancy pillow, grab a cozy blanket or heating pad. Do it.
2. Find a new signature drink
Goodbye wine and sushi once you’re pregnant. I have to say, I struggled during girls nights while pregnant as I desperately wanted to sip something other than water. Find a special (hydrating, low/no-calorie) option. Iced passion tea unsweetened, La Croix or lemon water are my favorites.
3. Treat your feet
Manicures and pedicures are a wonderful treat when you can no longer reach said piggies. I also find that taking a few minutes to put on a fun color or just clean up my nails makes me feel pulled together on days when I’m not loving pregnancy.
4. Go to the Spa – one of the best things I did was go for a prenatal massage.
At first I thought a massage wasn’t necessary and too expensive, so I never had one during my first pregnancy. During a vacation my husband scheduled a massage at my favorite spa and it was life changing. Honestly, the massage was better usual because I was one, able to be on my stomach, two, had a lot of stress and sore points in my back and hips, and three, had over one hour of peace and quiet. Heaven.
5. Make a huge fruit/snack plate
Keep healthy food on hand and around the house. I live for snack plates and found I could eat more fruit and veggies on my off days when they were around or plated nicely.
There will be a lot of changes through your three trimesters – that belly is going to grow! Buy a pair of jeans, leggings, dress (I love having an option for date night and work) and undies that fit and make you feel amazing. Some days I loved being pregnant and others I struggled. Having soft, comfortable clothes that fit right and made me feel good were worth every penny.
7. Use a great lotion or oil.
As I said above, that belly is going to grow! Yay! But you will also feel it with an itchy belly. Grab a great lotion and/or oil and use it morning and night. I live for my oil as it really reduces that belly itch and has left me without stretch marks!
