Baby Guster is 37 weeks and six days and the size of a winter melon.
Whoa, we made it to the final countdown!! I am officially full term. That equally terrifies and excites me. Terrifies for the fact that I have to get this kid out and excites me because I cannot think of a more difficult thing to not know (as in the sex of le bebe). The babe has been moving SO much that Phil and I just want to meet this little one.
Oh and Braxton Hicks are no joke.
Last week Sunday we went to our hospital for our Labor and Delivery unit tour. It was so helpful to see where we are going to go, check in, tour the room, meet some staff and also better understand the hospital’s birthing process. I have a private room that is quite large and filled with awesome amenities. But the best part is that I will be delivering in my room and the baby will be with me full time (unless I would like some time to rest). The hospital created a section in the room for the baby, just like our set up at home once everyone returns. Pretty awesome!
Here’s what Baby Guster has been up to this week:
- Babe is getting closer to breathing on its own.
- Skin is becoming soft and smooth and the circulation system is in full working order!
Days until due date: 17 days!
Number of OB appointments left: 2 (one per week)
Nesting or resting? NESTING like a mad woman. I think this is how I am channeling my anxiety of waiting three more weeks.
Ravenous or Nauseous? Just back to normal. Since I am eating smaller, more frequent meals I am getting super tired of eating. Every 2-3 hours I have to decide what I want. Ugh. Sounds odd, but it really a drag.
Shopping or saving? Oops, did a little shopping
Calm or cranky? Cranky this week. My hormones were out in full effect. Nothing a good blubber didn’t fix. Don’t ask me what was wrong either, just cried to cry.
Baby names: Update! Back down to three boy names and three girl names.
Workouts: Oh momma, a lot slower. Still doing 2-3 days of weights/toning, 2 days of cardio and trying to stay active in between.
Stretch marks? Nope and no real line either.
Symptoms: Oh, this is a fun one. Just a little Braxton Hicks action to report. Ouch! And lightening crotch. I know, lovely. But basically that is when you feel a shock/bolt go down your pelvis into your leg. It hurts so bad and has actually made my leg go numb. I think the baby found a nerve.
Sleep: A few restless nights, but otherwise a well rested momma-to-be. Feeling so lucky that I’m still clocking in 6.5-8 hours of sleep a night.
Random Thoughts and Musings: I am realizing that a lot of emphasis is put on items for the baby, but there is little talk about what to do to prep, what to expect, facts, how tos, etc. For example, no one gave me a heads up that to tour the labor and delivery ward you had to sign up. When I tried to do so on Friday, all of the tours (offered once a week) were full for September! What the heck?! I had NO clue you needed to sign up months in advance and apparently the fact that my due date is around the corner is of no concern or extra weight to get in. Stay tuned to see if Phil and I crash the tour on Sunday.
