I cannot believe that I am in the final countdown of my pregnancy. With single digit weeks left I am in a haze of happy, nervous, anxious, over-the-moon excited…and suuuuper impatient. As much as I really am loving pregnancy (I know, I am one of those women you hate), I cannot tell you how much I want to meet this little one.
Now that I am fully in the third trimester, I wanted to share some of my favorites from the second.
>>>Books! OK, this trimester I have been reading Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth">Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth, Fit Pregnancy (magazine) and started On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the GIFT of Nighttime Sleep’>Baby Wise. Plus I loved reading The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You’>the Honest Life again. Just a great approach to healthy living, babies and parenting on a realistic level.
>>>Trader Joe’s Plantain Chips. If you are craving salt on any level, please go and grab these little guys. You are welcome. They are crunch, salty and not even near the nasty of a regular chip (don’t get me wrong, I have had my Lay’s moments). But with three ingredients and at under $2 a bag, you can’t go wrong. Craving satisfied!
>>>La Croix!!! Thank the heavens for alternatives to plain water. As much as I love h2o, I get really bored with hitting 100 oz day in and day out. Some days are easier than others (no idea why), so to break things up I add in the flavored sparkling water. My favorites are grapefruit, raspberry, lime, lemon and orange.
>>>A Pea in the Pod Tanks. For several weeks during my pregnancy I felt really unlike myself. My body was changing, things weren’t fitting and maternity clothes looked frumpy. Workouts were hard and I was really struggling to feel good about myself. And then I found some clothes that felt like me. One of my favorites are these tanks from APITP. I snagged a few in bright colors and have been wearing them non-stop. They are super comfortable, don’t have the preggo side gather and look really flattering. Don’t be surprised if I wear these post-bebe.
>>>Protein-Packed Snacks. You all know that I am a big fan of keeping a healthy snack on hand. There is nothing worse than getting hungry in the middle of a shopping spree and needing to grab crap so you don’t miss a deal. amiriiiiight? Well, think of that and multiply it by 10 and you then know what is like to be a hungry preggo. There is no time to mess around. I have been loving 100 calorie packs of nuts (not for the calories but because they are easy to tote), hard boiled eggs and protein bars. I DO NOT leave home without one.
>>>Gap Maternity Jeans. I have several pair and styles from GAP and love them all. They are made in a variety of panels (full, half, etc) and I snagged one of each since I didn’t know which I’d like best. And to be honest, I like each style and cut for different reasons. This one really is based on personal preference. But what I can tell you is these jeans are SUPER comfortable, look like regular jeans (at 31 weeks a saleswoman asked me if I was wearing regular jeans) and you can usually find a 40% off coupon that makes these hard to pass up. Oh, and just buy in your regular size. Easy peasy!
>>>Ann Taylor Loft Shorts. Much like the GAP jeans, these shorts are the cutest you will find for maternity, swear. Oh, unless you are looking to spend some serious dough on designer jean shorts, which, don’t get me wrong, are super cute. But I would rather snag some key pieces and save the splurges for designer bags and clothes I can wear for more than a few months. Anywhooo, these shorts fit the bill. Great price, cute colors and once again, don’t look like maternity.
>>> The Snoogle. I know I mentioned this in the first trimester, but I had no idea at the time how much I would love this thing in the second. (I have a funny feeling I will be saying the same thing in my third trimester favorites.) This thing has seriously saved my sleep. I am an avid back and stomach sleeper, both of which are off limits (or impossible) when the belly is poppin. The Snoogle helped me ease into side sleeping and is also a great support to my growing belly.
And let me say, EVERYTHING I mentioned in the first trimester favorites stuck around in the second.
So that’s that! Leave me some tips below or tell me about things that absolutely saved you during pregnancy. !!!!! I feel like I’m just living normal life as for now and not much is that different. It’s pretty cool.
