Over the summer I was contacted by this new startup company in Boulder, CO about testing out their product! They said they are all about health and wellness, good for you ingredients to help you life a better life. Ummm, sounding good! So when I checked out their super sweet website, and just about died over the design, (as well as the amazing Skoop facts), I happily agreed to try it out.
Let me introduce you to my little friend, Skoop.
Skoop, or Healthy Skoop, is a plant-based powder mix of “super simple superfoods.” They promote the idea that “you are what you absorb” as opposed to “you are what you eat.” Which really is a brilliant concept, and makes perfect sense. Especially since your body can’t utilize nutrients unless they’re actually being absorbed. Superfoods have the best absorbability for our bodies, and are the easiest way to get micronutrients and phytonutrients into our system. And because accessing true superfoods, in their purest form, isn’t exactly the most convenient task, Skoop developed a super simple solution!
I was especially loving this since I was pregnant at the time and wanted nutrients for the babe but was being extra cautious about what they were and where they came from.
What is Skoop?
Repair and Recovery
The more than 5000 phytonutrients found in plants. They aid cellular repair and recovery, so you can keep going stronger day after day.
Phytonutrients don’t eliminate stress. But they are the most effective way to help your body deal with the damage it causes.
The phytonutrients and antioxidants in Skoop help fight chronic inflammation, boosting cellular metabolism and immune response to keep your body biologically chill.
3 more reasons …
THE FOOD, THE WHOLE-FOOD, AND NOTHING BUT THE FOOD.
SAY NO TO SYNTHETICS.
Let’s face it. Organic is wonderful and all, but if it doesn’t taste good and have a pleasing texture, none of that matters because you’re not going to use the product.
When I started using plant-based protein I accepted the fact that it wasn’t going to taste as the same as other types of protein powder I’ve used and the texture would always be a bit odd. With Skoop plant-based products that’s not the case!
The flavor and texture of Skoop is better than any other comparable products I’ve used in the past.
Post spin class Saturday morning I had a scoop of A-Game shaken with almond milk.
A-Game is my favorite way to jump start my day since it helps to boost immunity, fight stress and has a refreshing green taste that packs 10 servings of fruits and veggies into one little “skoop”! I enjoy this first thing in the morning with my lemon water and then move onto breakfast.
I use Skoop B-Strong in any recipe that I want to add a hint of vanilla and touch of sweetness plus a protein boost and A-Game when I want to add a nutrient boost with 10 servings of fruit and vegetables.
Since I have always used plant based protein powders, the slightly grainy texture did not bother me and wasn’t chalky in comparison to other plant protein powders I’ve tried. What I love about B-Strong is that it is full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals along with a complete profile of amino acids, and is low in sodium compared to other plant protein powders. I think it would taste great blended into a smoothie with some almond milk and almond butter!
I tried the B-Lovely last simply because I wasn’t sure what to expect since it is so unique. B-Lovely contains Japanese Fleece Flower, a source of resveratrol, which helps to combat oxidative stress and ALA (Alpha Linolenic Acid) which aids in the restoration of collagen. Their philosophy behind these ingredients is that what goes in your body is more important than what goes in it when helping to keep skin hydrated and healthy.
Skoop suggests enjoying B-Lovely in ice cold water with a squeeze of lemon. I had it in the afternoon as a little light driink and I literally felt like I was drinking a beauty elixir and there was subtle note of sweetness even though B-Lovely only contains 1 gram of sugar.
One of my favorite parts is getting creative with a new ingredient. I added Skoop to:
- overnight oats
- baked oatmeal
- granola bars
- mug cakes
- pumpkin pie
- Out of all the formulas and each of the flavors I enjoyed the A-Game Sweetgreens and the B-Lovely the most. That is not to say that I didn’t like the B-Strong, just that I really enjoyed the other two simply because they are something different and unique.
- I like that the A -Game & B-Lovely don’t contain protein and deliver a punch of superfood deliciousness in one little “skoop”. They are something I would feel good about giving to my children to boost their nutrition, especially for my picky eater.
- They are perfect to enjoy alone or add to a smoothie to make it even more super without having to use protein powder like I normally do.
Now it’s your turn! Are you looking for a great recovery food, more vitamins, or just a great snack? Skoop has your back!
