Good morning, how are we doing today?! Did anyone else love celebrating the start of the Summer this weekend? I think it was the dreadful winter we experienced here in Michigan that made the official kick-off weekend that much sweeter.
Thursday was a big night at the BB house – we finished the nursery! Well, we finished all of the construction, painting, reconstruction and put the crib together. My sister Lindsay, brother-in-law Phil and niece Natalie came over for dinner, to assist and celebrate!
We went with the Kendall crib from Pottery Barn and love it! The crib came together in under 20 minutes and with minimal parts. And it is super sturdy! I am so happy to see it put together in the nursery.
I adore this picture of Natalie helping with the instructions. Haha.
Someone found a new spot in the house. In fact, we have found Henry under the crib every day since!
After a quick Jillian Michael’s DVD, shower and a few hours of work, I was on the road heading up north to my mother-in-law’s house. I got on the road late morning so I wanted something to sip on during the ride. I went with my favorite decaffeinated beverage, Passion Tea, unsweetened.
My car was filled to the brim with bags for the garage sale that my MIL was hosting, so Henry had to ride shot gun. However, my driving partner didn’t last too long.
In a few hours we arrived, unpacked and were wheelin and dealin! The garage sale always has a huge turn out and I make a few hundred dollars each year. It is fun to participate since several houses on my MIL’s street all do their sales on the same weekend.
Once everything was wrapped up for the day, we went out to dinner and then took Henry on a walk. We spent the rest of the night relaxing and going through Phil’s baby books and boxes. My MIL was gifted several handmade sweaters, hats, booties and blankets when Phil was born and kept them all. I can’t wait to use a few with our baby!
I spent most of the day helping at the garage before getting on the road to head back home.
Lindsay and Phil were having a Pim Cup/ Bocce Ball party. We spent the night chatting, grilling out and playing. It was a beautiful night and was so fun to get together with some of my sister’s friends that I have not seen in a while. I love having my sister and her family back in town!!
My plan for the day was to reeeelax. The morning started at the grocery store (does anyone else hate the chaos of Sunday afternoon grocery shopping?). I like to hit up Trader Joes when it first opens at 8am. The staff is so friendly and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes with a weeks worth of groceries.
When I got home, Phil was up and ready for breakfast. We whipped up some eggs and headed out to our rocking chairs on the front porch to enjoy the day.
In the afternoon I met up with an old coworker friend. We met for coffee and caught up and talked about an opportunity to speak with her mom’s group on a topic concerning health and wellness. I am really excited and hope to get a few more events and speeches for my Health Coaching lined up in the near future!
I returned home and started to whip up dinner. One of my favorite parts of summer is grilling. I used a recipe for Garlic Lime Marinated Pork Chops and served them with grilled asparagus and corn. The pork chops were so good, I highly recommend trying out this recipe if you like a little kick.
What was the highlight of your weekend?
