While the end of the week always brings a welcomed break from the work week, today is extra sweet. Phil was traveling for work all week and I was functioning as a single parent with Mitch.
Over the last few days I have learned a few lessons:
-Keeping all of the plates spinning at once is …a challenge
-Stay creative, go with the flow and keep smiling
-On that note, embrace the chaos
-Nut butter and jam sandwiches can distract Mitch long enough to finish a deck for work
-You’re going to be thrown curve balls. Know that now and don’t look surprised
-Live in the moment, don’t think about what is to come or what is behind
-Phil is truly a partner in this crazy game of life – nothing like a few days apart to gain a lot of perspective and appreciation
Mitch and I teamed up this week; he was well behaved and I couldn’t have survived otherwise. With Phil gone and leading on the work front, the week was stacked against me. Oh, and that lovely snow storm that dumped on us Wednesday and Thursday is the curve ball mentioned above. Mitch and I spent Wednesday night shoveling. I was planning on fun mommy and me activities through the week, but 45 minutes of shoveling with a dust pan kept him happy as can be.
The house is standing, we are all in one piece, fed and happy. I call that a successful week.
Cheers to the weekend!
