As we hit mid-November, Phil and I realized that every weekend and several weeks through the remainder of the year are booked solid with holiday fun, birthdays and (fingers crossed) a vacation. Knowing last weekend was the last one at home with a quiet agenda, we took full advantage of our time at the house, the fall weather and some favorites on repeat.
Leaves are a huge hit in our house. Phil maybe not so much since he is always the one raking and mowing the lawn. But Mitch and Henry love the leaves. It is common to come home to the three boys outside running, jumping or playing in the yard.
When I returned from an early morning spin class I found the guys gearing up for time outside. Mitch promptly dug into the leaf piles.
With the temperatures in the mid-sixties and the sun shining, we were all in heaven.
As you can tell, the boys had a blast playing in the leaves. When I went to change Mitch, leaves fell out of every nook and cranny of his clothes, hair and diaper. Leaves infiltrated our house all weekend.
Phil’s dad and stepmom came down for a visit on Saturday. It was so nice to visit with them, but unfortunately, most of the time was during Mitch’s nap. The leaves wore him out! But his nap gave us time to sit and visit for a few hours over lunch and the football game.
Mitch ended up taking a four-hour nap. He was pretty out of it when he woke up, so I figured it was a good time to pull out the turkey craft!
Leave it to Trader Joes to always have some great finds for the holidays. Last year we made a gingerbread house, which was a huge hit. So I added the turkey variety to my cart during my shopping trip earlier in the day. I am not sure if Mitch was confused, hungry or curious, but several of the decorations and one of the turkey’s feet were enjoyed as snacks.
As you can see, poor Mr. Turkey ended up quite regal, but down a foot.
It was a really fun activity, although Phil told me to take it down a notch. Hey, I was excited!
The night ended with takeout and an early night for everyone. The fresh air and play time got us all!
Sunday started with my second yoga sculpt class. And I have to say, despite it being incredibly challenging, I really love the class.
The format is a combination of yoga, cardio and weights. We start in a gentle stretch flow and before you know it, you’re jumping in chair pose, doing flows with weights and holding deep lunges sweating like crazy. The class is like nothing I have ever tried before, so I’m loving the change of pace and challenge!
I made a few quick stops on the way home to prep for the week and arrived home with goodies for breakfast. We all dug in and enjoyed a quiet morning.
Most of the afternoon was spent cleaning the house, prepping for our time away, catching up on blog-related work, ordering from Sephora and doing a little closet cleaning.
Phil and I also wrapped up our fall planting in our yard. Finally! After several unproductive days last week, it was nice to spend a little time checking things off my “must do” list.
I am really looking forward to the coming weeks with all of the fun on the calendar!
And I think that catches us up! I hope you all had a good weekend.
Tell me a highlight of your weekend. What is your favorite workout?
