Monday, Monday, we meet again. I’m feeling great after a busy weekend that was filled with celebration, adventure and some favorite things!
The weekend started on a bit of a low when I woke up with a killer migraine. The weather has been a roller coaster- 80 degrees one day and down to 50 degrees the following – which I think brought on my ache. Luckily, I was able to work from home and within two hours I received a call from school saying Mitch was sick with a fever of 102. I quickly picked him up and was so glad I was less than 10 minutes away.
We both crawled into bed and cuddled. Fortunately, Mitch was much better when he woke up and passed by time we woke up the next day.
The morning started with spin and the grocery store before heading home to get ready for the day.
Phil’s godson Matt was celebrating his 10th birthday on Saturday. When we arrived, we were greeted by enough kids to make two teams playing an interesting game.
I stayed clear of the action and spent time visiting with Phil’s aunt, uncle, and cousins. Soon enough, the rain rolled in. So everyone piled inside for a late lunch. Mitch was solely focused on the cupcake tower. After a few bites of lunch, he finally got his chocolate cupcake.
Not long after we said our goodbyes to head home to our guest! Phil’s mom came into town for the weekend and arrived just before we made it back home.
I planned to make it an early bedtime, but when Kathy offered to wake up with Mitch in the morning I decided to take advantage. And what better way than an SVU marathon into the wee hours?! It felt like heaven, something I never do now knowing a 6:30 am wake-up call is pretty much guaranteed.
I technically went to bed Sunday morning and felt like a crazy, wild child. Oh how times have changed!
Wouldn’t you know, the one time we have someone to watch Mitch in the morning, he sleeps in. Go figure.
We all enjoyed the extra sleep and slowly made our way downstairs around 8am for coffee while I whipped up eggs, fresh toast and bacon.
Once we were full, Phil and I got ready for our day date. We’re so lucky that Kathy loves to spend time with Mitch and gave us the chance to spend a day alone.
The picture above is a quarter of one farmer’s lot, and there were hundreds of farmers at the event just to give you an idea of the size. Literally, flowers as far as the eye could see!
We arrived home just before Mitch’s nap and then all settled in for naps ourselves.
In the early afternoon, Phil and I headed out again for a few errands and dinner. When we arrived home, Mitch was in his pjs and patiently waiting for us to tuck him in.
I certainly felt lucky to spend the day with Phil, despite a few downpours. It was a rare treat much like my late night and nap. Such a rare but special treat!
And with that, we start into another week. I’m looking forward to a short week thanks to the holiday weekend! And we are also starting our second construction project – eek!
What is your favorite kind of date? Would you get in one of the bumper balls?
