Good morning! Truth be told, I am still in bed. It was that kind of a weekend, go, go, go! So, I am a bit slow moving today, but feeling oh so good after a great few days. Phil and I spent the weekend working on the baby’s room, going on a date and enjoying one of the only free weekends we have this summer.
Before we go any further, I have to share the food highlight; Erin’s banana muffins (that I made into a bread). I made this on Thursday and we enjoyed a slice every morning with our cup of coffee. The bread is filled with ingredients that are better than your standard loaf and creates a moist, flavorful, filling result. If you haven’t checked out Erin’s site, I highly recommend you do so!
Friday was spent working hard so I could go into the weekend with a clear mind and my to-dos checked. Once I wrapped around 2pm, I spent a few hours working on a piece of furniture that we are redoing.
I headed out at 4pm to pick up Henry from his hair cut. Does anyone else notice something strange? Yea, they forgot to cut his ears. Haha.
It was a scorcher, so we decided to treat ourselves; decaf latte for me and a pup cup for Big H.
The rest of the night was spent relaxing with take out. Some times pregnancy wipes me out. It is the strangest feeling to explain, but all of my energy goes completely out the window. As in, I am not even able to get up and fix myself dinner. So I rested up knowing we had a lot on the agenda for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday morning started with a gym date with my bestie. I love going to the gym with my friends, I find it so motivating and we also catch up and chat the entire time.
We had the chimney worked on this past week, so I had my work cut out for me. But, despite the hard work, I love the feeling of a really clean house.
That night we headed out to Bravo! for date night. We used to plan a date night once a month, but with the business of Baby G’s arrival and a jam-packed summer they have fallen off the way side. So it was really nice to get dressed up and head out to dinner with Phil.
We had a great dinner, too. I went with the salmon, which was unbelievable with the balsamic drizzle. Phil went with a pizza-like stuffed manicotti. (Please excuse my pictures from my phone.)
Sunday morning started with a morning cup of joe and a trip to Home Depot. The weekend brought beautiful weather so we were able to enjoy our coffee outside at 8am with temps almost at 80! That is crazy for Michigan.
We were determined to make headway on Baby G’s room this weekend, so we were up and at ‘em. All of Sunday was spent painting the nursery-to-be. It was a long day, but between the two of us, we were able to make some great progress!
Here is the room after the first coat of paint on the wains-coating.
We called it quits after we finished the wains-coating, ceiling and closet. Up next is the main color, doors and a cap for the wains-coating. For dinner, I grilled up barbeque chicken, corn on the cob and steamed some fresh beans. We wrapped up the night relaxing and watching Dallas Buyer’s Club. If you have not seen this movie, I cannot recommend it enough.
And now we are back to Monday. I’m going to pull myself out of bed and get Henry out for a walk before the rain rolls in. Time to hop to it!
Hope you had a great weekend!
