Good morning, friends.
I thought today I would share my experience with Tone It Up’s Nutrition plan. I am a big fan of TIU and purchased the nutrition plan about one year ago. For some the plan would be a great starting point in healthy cooking. Personally, I was looking for another resource and inspiration.
As you know, intuitive eating is how I eat, and being able to pull out the plan and find what looks good and know that it is good for me is an awesome bonus!
(Let me also say, these opinions are 100% my own and I am in no way affiliated with TIU.) I believe in eating healthy, whole foods based on your body’s needs. So, here is a look at Tuesday doing just that!
I woke up around 7am and immediately grabbed a big glass of water. As you may know, this is one of my favorite (and easiest) ways to hydrate, reduce hunger and ensure you are listening to your body’s cues. Chug a big glass before ANYTHING else.
I wandered into the office and started working since I did not feel hungry in the slightest. This has been a huge change for me in the last two weeks, my hunger has significantly decreased. So, I waited a bit until I felt like eating.
A few hours later (and some watermelon chunks that were snacked on), I made myself breakfast. An egg sandwich with a side of fruit.
I also had a small cup of decaf coffee with almond milk.
Again, after a few more hours of work I had to run out for an appointment and knew I would be gone for the rest of the afternoon. At this point it was 1:30 and I wanted something quick, light, yet filling. I found my last Mexican turkey burger that we had for dinner a few nights ago. One of my favorite ways to eat something that is usually served in a bun or wrap is in some form of a green (romaine, bib lettuce, collard green). It saves from extra processed foods being consumed and still gives you the satisfaction of a crunch.
I spotted some romaine, onion, tomato and topped it all of with some yellow mustard. Give it a roll and eat. Super easy, delicious and quick.
Like I said, my hunger has been wacky lately, so yesterday I snacked on an apple that I had tossed in my bag when I left the house. I always keep a snack on hand (even before I was preggo).
Typically I would pair this with some nut butter, raw nuts it even a clean bar (Lara, Kind). But my body wasn’t needing the extra yesterday so I saved the second half for another day.
Seafood has been touch and go with me through my pregnancy, but last night I was craving shrimp. I found a recipe for garlic and pineapple shrimp that we grilled up. The shrimp was served on top of quinoa with some steamed veggies.
The dinner was super flavorful! I loved the kick of garlic. However, I just realized I never added in the pineapple. Oops!!
Some days I really want a little sweet at the end of the day. And yesterday was one of them. Phil and I still had quite a bit of our treat from last Wednesday leftover, so we dug it out and shared again. I tell you, that is one big treat! It just keeps going!
OK, so the ice cream is NOT on the nutrition plan. But as you know, I am all about balance and moderation. Since I was craving a few bites, I went for it. I am not looking to lose weight and know that a few bites will not break the bank.
And there you have it, my day of eating based on my hunger and recipes from the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan! I will note that I did not share any specific recipes as you need to purchase the plan.
One thing I love about intuitive eating is I never feel deprived or guilty.
What was the highlight of your eats yesterday?
Do you follow any specific meal plans, diets or trends?
What is your favorite seafood?
